FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Skin Art Creations MovesDecision Hard But Necessary01/01/05 -- For the past month Skin Art Creations Tattoo Emporium has been closed. This was due to a major move from our current location at 105 West Main Street to our new location at 110 West Main Street in Independence, Kansas. Yes, we are now located across the street from our previous studio. The move has created a lot of speculation locally ranging from "They were evicted" to "They are out of business." The actual truth of the matter however is this..... We had a contract to buy 105 West Main Street but upon further consideration we decided that it would not be a good business move so we dropped the contract. This of course was a hard decision for us, we had just spent the past year updating the building, up to and including a restoration of the 130 year old tin ceiling that was in the building.
We hope that our new location will be workable and comfortable for our clientele. We are going back to basics with a small, no frills studio which is very similar to the first studio I had in Saint Joseph, Missouri back in 1977. We were happy to find out that Tony who owns "Turbo's Bar & Grill" next door has purchased 105 West Main Street and will be remodeling the building to expand the bar. We were also happy to learn that he would be keeping the tin ceiling that we restored. We wish Tony the best with his venture and when you visit Turbo's look up at the ceiling and think of us! On a slightly different but related note. Shortly after Tony purchased the building a local wannabe tattooist approached Tony about leasing the building. Her idea was to try to fool people into thinking that she had taken over our business even though we are now located across the street. This is highly unethical and very unprofessional. Basically she was trying to steal our customers and I have no problem calling a thief a thief. Tony, as politely as possible, told her to hit the road. She definitely did not make a friend with Tony by her actions and did nothing to improve her reputation. The really sad thing here is that this person who fancies herself a tattooist is in reality a very fine artist creating some of the best portraits in pencil, paint and pen I have ever seen. She is a fine classical artist but not a very good tattoo artist. So her attempt to steal our business still would not have worked out for her. Perhaps she should stick with what she does best. Here is my word of advice for those of you already in the body art industry or those just starting; Build your own business and reputation and do not try to steal what belongs to others. Your business will build itself based on your attitude and reputation and you do not have to be a thief to succeed. Always remember the most important thing however, if you get into this business and discover that you truly do not have the touch for it..... walk away! It is better to say I tried and wasn't good at it than to continually do poor work on people! For More Information Contact: |
